Closed-Caption ASL Hands & Memory Tattoos: ART 1020/1030 Student Artworks
How do we record and remember stories? As a frozen moment, a scene standing still in time? As a sequence of shifting moments, somehow more elusive and re-imagined in the telling? First-year students tried both -- using drawings of their hands posing as sign-language closed-captions for a still scenic moment, and using bodies as the surface upon which the story of a memory unfolds.
